Show Notes
In today's episode, we talk about the 4 things your website needs in 2019:
- Less Clutter - Keep your website simple and impactful. Big companies like, Apple, take this approach on their sites. Get rid of unnecessary clutter. You should be able to convey your message in a concise and straightforward way. Attention spans are getting shorter and shorter. Also, break down text into more digestible content, easier to read; Neil Patel does a great job of this on his blog.
- Animation - Again, attention spans are getting shorter so animations are a great way to keep people engaged. Now we are not saying to have your whole website moving everywhere but those subtle animations that make a truly great experience.
- Video - Using video was a big trend in 2018 and 2019 is going to be bigger. It’s easier to convey a point or tell a story using video. A lot of websites using video in their hero sections to captures people attention too.
- Truly great mobile experience - Mobile responsiveness is great and a lot of websites have adopted a responsive approach to their designs. BUT PLEASE make sure you truly navigate throughout your whole website.

Hey, everyone! We're in the second month of the new year, and we're sure that there are many of you that are ready to level up your businesses for 2019! Making sure your website is up to date with the trends is one of the many things you could do to improve your businesses! Here are the 4 things your website needs this 2019.
It's time to declutter
Channel in your inner Marie Kondo and start decluttering, guys! What we mean by this is that you should try to make your website's interface more digestible - this means less unnecessary texts and images that could overwhelm your site's visitors. Make sure that you only have the necessary texts and images that you need in your websites. It has to look neat, it has to tell a story, and it has to represent your brand well! Try looking at Apple or Neil Patel's blogs for inspiration!
Make things interactive
Nothing beats interaction when it comes to colors, animation, and videos! We have to admit that the attention spans of people are getting shorter and shorter, so you need to have the that one thing that will catch their attention and make them focus on your website - animations are just the thing to do it! Now, you don't need to have Pixel-level animations - you just need to have those really subtle animations that your audience will appreciate. Small things like having your buttons change color when you hover over them or have your icons wiggle will go a long way to make your website look more lively and interactive!
Let the videos do the talking
Having videos on your websites were a big trend in 2018 and that trend isn't stopping for 2019! If you want to have your audience and customers get hooked on the content of your website, videos can do just that! What a lot of people do is that they combine text and a video for a certain page on their website; this could be done in the "About Us" or "History" pages of websites. They pair up texts and a video together in order to attract people who like to read and watch! Make sure that your video tells a story and gets the message that you want to convey across!
Go mobile
A lot of mistakes that business owners do when creating their websites is that they completely forget to make sure that their website is mobile-friendly and responsive. Imagine this: you're on your tablet or smart phone and you're browsing a website of a business you're interested in, but the website's design is completely wonky and it doesn't operate properly. It's a complete turn off.
This can be avoided in your website if you are careful about the design of the website when it is being accessed in a mobile device. The best thing you can do is go through the mobile version of your website and make sure that all the bugs are fixed before it goes live!
Creating a new website or upgrading one is super exciting and the new year is a really great start to do this! If you guys have more questions and would like to know more about website design and the dos and don'ts - then you can reach out to us!
