How To Change Your Shopify Store’s Verbiage

Hello and welcome to another Shopify Tutorial. In this blog, we are going to talk about how to change your Shopify store’s verbiage. Let’s get into it.

So when we say verbiage, we are talking about the copy. In Shopify, when you go to your online store and hit that purple customize button, there is certain copy within the store that you are not allowed to change. Sometimes a store doesn’t let you change certain things from that section, but there is a way you can do it. First, you still want to go to your online store. Next, instead of hitting the customize button, you’ll go to the left of it and go into Actions and then edit languages.

In languages, you will see a lot of different things from all over your store. These are just the words or the verbiage or the copy that Shopify automatically uses for certain things.

A good example of this would be the contact form. So when someone goes to your contact page and submits a form, they’ll get a message. Now, it is kind of hidden on where to change the verbiage for this. To find it, you will want to go into the Contact tab, and the very last one at the bottom says “Post Success.”

Right now, the message automatically says “Thanks for contacting us. We’ll get back to you as soon as possible.” For your store, this message might not make sense at all, so you would want the ability to change that. All you need to do is click in the box, backspace to delete what you want and type something new, to whatever works for your business. For this example, we are just going to tweak the message a little bit.

Now, this was just one example. There are a lot of different things in here that you can change, especially if you want to add some flair to your store. Perhaps you have a very unique personality or way of talking. Maybe your industry has certain words that are different compared to the generic names and words that are preloaded into Shopify, so you want to have the ability to tailor it to your brand.

Once you change everything that you want to, you will hit save, and that’s it. That’s how you change your verbiage or hidden verbiage within your Shopify Store.

That concludes this Shopify tutorial. If you have any questions about how to do this for your business or for your brand, go ahead and comment below and let us know.
